Forest School

Nature and nurture: Living and learning outdoors

A conventional school may not be the right environment for all children, at all stages of their lives. For those who don’t thrive in a typical classroom format or have particular needs, spending time learning in the forest school gives them the space to discover and develop their own talents and skills, in a way that works for them. We focus on providing individual and positive attention, nurturing self-confidence, self-regulation and the development of problem-solving approaches which can be carried through to the classroom. We see improvements week to week for these students, evidenced by their behaviour back at school and at home, paving the way to better outcomes and brighter futures.

What our parents say

“When I told everyone who knew my daughter that I had signed her up for forest school they thought I was crazy. She was a pink & princess loving girly girl who was at times painfully shy and didn’t even like going to the park as the slide was too scary. It turned out to be one of the very best decisions I ever made for her!

“Inclusive, welcoming and incredibly fun! With muddy boots and huge smiles, Footprints on the Moon has provided a safe and nurturing space for my son to gain in confidence and develop numerous skills, both practical and social.”
